Francisco Trincao says he’s happy and proud after making his Portugal debut in Saturday’s 4-1 win over Croatia in the Nations League.

The European champions were without Cristiano Ronaldo for the game but still put four past the World Cup finalists and hit the post three times in an impressive display.

Trincao made his debut in the 78th minute, coming on for Bernardo Silva on what was a memorable night for the 20-year-old.

He took to Instagram after the match with a post that read: “Very happy for the debut. It is a great pride to be able to represent my country. First game, first win.”

Trincao will be hoping for more game time on Tuesday in Stockholm against Sweden and will then head back to Barcelona to continue pre-season training with his new club.
