Carles Alena got off to a winning start to his loan spell with Getafe, playing all 90 minutes of a 3-1 victory at Elche on Monday.

The midfielder went straight into the starting XI for the fixture with Jose Bordalas switching to a 4-2-3-1 formation for the match.

Elche got off to a great start and opened the scoring when Raul Guti converted a cross, but Getafe hit back strongly to take all three points.

The lead lasted until shortly before half-time when Marc Cucurella headed the visitors back on level terms. Things got even worse for Elche just after the break when Ivan Marcone saw red.

Alena put in a bright display throughout the 90 minutes on what was his first start of the season following his loan move from Barcelona.

The 23-year-old was also involved in the build-up as Getafe took the lead in the second half. The move culminated in substitute Take Kubo’s shot being saved and the rebound being tapped home by Jaime Mata.

Angel Rodriguez then scored a late penalty to secure the win and make it a good night for Getafe and Alena
