Barcelona presidential candidate and some might say favorite, Joan Laporta, says that he thinks Lionel Messi wants to stay at Barcelona. Now, we’d all like to think that Messi wants to stay at Barcelona. In fact, I think he probably really does wish to stay at the club.

The big question is whether or not Barca will be in a state wherein Messi chooses to stay in a few months. Right now, that looks grim.

However, things can change, so let’s see what Mr. Laporta has to say.

“Messi can be convinced, I think he wants to stay,” he said.

“The conversation I must have with him will be the serious one, when we can offer him something firm.

“The delay to the elections does not benefit Barcelona or the renewal of Leo, who needs a president and a board of directors to renew.”

Messi hasn’t said too much about his future but did admit recently he would until the end of the season to make a final decision.
