Barcelona announced on Tuesday that the presidential elections will now take place on March 7 after being postponed earlier this month.

The elections were originally set to take place on January 24 but were delayed because of restrictions in place due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Barca have now confirmed the new date and announced that postal voting will be allowed in a statement on their official website.

Joan Laporta, Victor Font and Toni Freixa are the three candidates left in the running with Laporta the favorite after collecting the most signatures so far.

The new president will have plenty of big decisions to make after taking over including what to do with Lionel Messi who is out of contract in the summer.

Barca’s financial situation has also hit the headlines this week with the club reporting total debts of €1 billion which will have a big impact on transfer ins and outs.
