Barcelona announced on Wednesday that midfielder Carles Alena has joined Getafe on loan for the rest of the 2020-21 season.
The 23-year-old has once again struggled for game time at the Camp Nou this season. He has managed only five appearances in total and just one start under Ronald Koeman.
Here’s Barcelona’s official statement:
“FC Barcelona and Getafe CF have reached an agreement for the loan of the player Carles Aleñá until the end of the 2020/21 season. The Madrid club will take over the player’s wages.”

The deal does not include a purchase option and will see Alena link up with friend and former team-mate Marc Cucurella.
It’s the second time Alena has been sent out on loan, after a spell with Real Betis last season, and he’ll be hoping he can go on and play regularly for Jose Bordalas’s side.
Good luck for the rest of the season Carles Alena!
