There’s no doubt one of the most impressive things about Barcelona under Ronald Koeman is the presence of youth in the first team. Despite what you may think about Koeman’s tactical prowess, he’s given players the likes of Pedri and Ansu Fati consistent playing time.
Pedri has been able to stay pretty healthy thus far and looked incredible doing so. That effort hasn’t gone unnoticed, and in an interview with AP this week, he chatted a bit about his inspiration. Namely, one Andres Iniesta and Lionel Messi.
“The truth is that something must have stuck. I think I have seen all the videos of (Iniesta) on YouTube. I never missed a game of his, so I guess some of it wears off.
“Maybe that is something I learned from Andrés, but the truth is that these are things that just happen on the field. If suddenly you hear Leo, you know you have give him the ball because he will create danger and end up scoring like always.”

The teenager already seems to have struck up a great relationship with Messi on the pitch. Long may it continue.
