Barcelona midfielder Pedri hailed his team’s “important win” over Huesca on Monday as the Catalan giants cut the gap on La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid to just four points.
Two goals from Lionel Messi, an Antoine Griezmann stunner and an Oscar Mingueza header gave the hosts a deserved three points and made it 17 games unbeaten in the league.
Pedri offered his thoughts after the game and said his team won’t give up in their fight for the title.
“We knew it would be a tough game despite where they are in the table. They push you a lot and are doing all they can to get out of trouble. It’s an important win for us. We won’t give in the title. There’s still a lot of points to play for so we’ll just concentrate on us and what we’re doing. We are playing well and on a good run.”
The 18-year-old also spoke about his pride at being called up to the Spain squad for the first time in his career earlier in the day.
“I was at home when I got the news and it’s a proud moment to be able to represent my country. Everything is happening very quickly and I know I must keep working hard.”
Barca have one more game before the international break. The Catalan giants head to Real Sociedad on Sunday, while Atletico host Alaves and Real Madrid are at Celta Vigo.
