Sergi Roberto was the surprise name in Barcelona training on Saturday as the team step up preparations for Sunday’s La Liga clash against Real Sociedad.

The 29-year-old has been out of action since suffering a recurrence of a thigh injury in the Copa del Rey win over Granada at the start of February.

Roberto only took part in some of the session, meaning he won’t be fit for the trip to La Real, but it looks as though he’ll be ready to return after the international break.

Sunday’s match is Barca’s final fixture before domestic competition pauses for a couple of weeks. The team’s next match is not under April 5 against Real Valladolid at the Camp Nou.

Gerard Pique is also expected back after the international break, while there’s hope that Ansu Fati could also be back in training next month after knee surgery.

Ronald Koeman will certainly be hoping he can get his injured players back ahead of the run-in with some big games to come as Barca chase a league and cup double.
