Griezmann: What’s best for me is to be on the pitch

Antoine Griezmann was on target in Barcelona’s 6-1 win over Real Sociedad and spoke about how he just wants to play after the match.

The Frenchman has found himself on the bench at times this season, particularly after Ronald Koeman tweaked formation and went with three center-backs.

Griezmann has been back in the side recently, alongside Ousmane Dembele and Lionel Messi, and is hoping he can keep his place in the starting XI.

“What’s best for me is to be on the pitch, that’s what I want, but yes, with three centre-backs we’re more secure, the midfield works a lot... the boss has hit the nail on the head.”

The World Cup winner also spoke about Barca’s finishing with the team in clinical mood against Real Sociedad.

Barca have been guilty of wasting chances this season, and Griezmann admits it’s something they have been working on.

“Sometimes we struggle to score the first goal but we were really fluid tonight and played really well,” he said.

“Sometimes it’s not your day in the final third, sometimes I miss, others times it’s Ousmane or Martin... we work on that, to improve.

“But here everyone scores goals. We have to be switched on mentally, those that aren’t playing can make the difference, too. We’re a group and that’s the only way to achieve big things.”

Griezmann is now due to head off on international duty with France along with Clement Lenglet and Dembele. Les Bleus play three World Cup qualifiers against Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
