Ronald Koeman was a happy man after Barcelona’s 6-1 La Liga win over Real Sociedad at Anoeta on Sunday.
Koeman, Jordi Alba and Antoine Griezmann all celebrated their birthdays on Sunday, and the Dutchman admitted the big win was a great present.
The Barca boss also offered his thoughts on the title race with his team once again four points behind Atletico with 10 games left to play.
“Every game is difficult For us and for [Atletico]. Real Madrid are there too. It’s going to be exciting until the end of the season,” he said.
“I now hope all the players can return from the break without problems. They have given me a great birthday present, while it has also been a great birthday for Jordi Alba and Antoine Griezmann.”
Barca’s win extended the team’s unbeaten run to 18 games, while the Catalan giants have also now won nine consecutive games away from home in La Liga.
Yet Koeman isn’t completely convinced his team can avoid defeat in their remaining 10 games.
“I’m not sure that we’re not going to lose. There are lots of tough games. The best thing we can do is keep doing what we’re doing - starting games with lots of focus,” he said.
“The finishing we showed today will be important if we’re going to win something.”

The international break now means Barca don’t play again until April 5 when Real Valladolid visit the Camp Nou. Koeman’s men then head to Real Madrid in another crucial fixture before facing Athletic in the Copa del Rey final.
