Spain boss Luis Enrique has been full of praise for Barcelona midfielder Pedri after calling the youngster into his squad for the first time.
Pedri will be hoping to make his debut over the international break with Spain’s first fixture against Greece on Thursday in World Cup qualifying.
Luis Enrique made it clear in his pre-match press conference just how highly he rates the 18-year-old already.
“Pedri already does wonderful things despite his age. He is humble, intelligent and a hard worker. He’s a great teammate as well. What I see is a top-level player.”
The Spain boss also addressed comparisons between Pedri and Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta but says the youngster must be his own man.
“They are different players. I understand the comparisons, but Pedri has to be Pedri. We have to let Pedri improve at his own pace and let him create his own path.”
Spain head to Georgia after Wednesday’s game and then finish off this round of fixtures against Kosovo next Wednesday.
