Newly crowned Barcelona president Joan Laporta hasn’t wasted any time in making David Alaba a priority. The Bayern defender announced that he was leaving the German giants at the season’s end, and will no doubt have his choice of club to end up at.

Laporta reportedly met with Alaba’s representatives last week and told them to be patient, and wait if he was elected president. That, of course, has now happened and Laporta will work quickly to present Alaba’s team a competitive offer.

Real Madrid and Manchester City are also said to be keen, while Laporta hopes to add some new recruits by offloading players. Philippe Coutinho and his “inflated salary” is one name mentioned in the report.

Alaba would be a great addition for Barcelona. His versatility is something Barca desperately need and the leadership he’s brought on the pitch would be even better. Let's hope things break Barca’s way.
