FC Barcelona are calm and looking forward to a drama-free renewal of its best player ever, Lionel Messi, according to a new report. His agent and father, Jorge, was seen in FC Barcelona recently, prompting rumors that the star player was getting close to deciding to stay after he tried to leave at the beginning of the season.

The Argentine shocked the world when he publicly announced his decision to quit Barcelona before the beginning of the current season. He was ultimately compelled to stay as the Catalans refused to negotiate a potential exit. Still, rumors that he would leave once his deal expired this year have been persistent.

Both parties reportedly want to avoid the high drama of last year, and instead are looking for a “discreet” process. All of these signs point to Messi staying one more year with his hometown club.

Reportedly, the election of Joan Laporta and the team’s ascent under manager Ronald Koeman after a dire beginning to the season have been strong factors in edging Messi closer to staying.

However, there could still be changes to this tale as Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly making a big push to sign the superstar.
