Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen is set to undergo a “procedure” on his knee that means he will miss the team’s last game of the season at Eibar as well as this summer’s European Championship.

Ter Stegen missed the start of the 2020-21 season after undergoing knee surgery and is now set for further treatment.

Ter Stegen’s also offered an update on social media. The goalkeeper has explained a little bit about his injury and also revealed his disappointment about the way Barcelona’s season is ending.

The latest update may go some way to explaining Ter Stegen’s recent form. The goalkeeper hasn’t been at his best and has come in for criticism from some sections of the support.

Ter Stegen’s absence against Eibar means Neto is likely to come in and could make his last appearance for Barcelona. The Brazilian asked to leave in the winter and it would not be a surprise if he departed in the summer.

Barcelona B penalty hero Inaki Pena is also an option against Eibar and could well take Neto’s place in the squad next season as Ter Stegen’s back-up.
