Barcelona president Joan Laporta was full of praise for new signing Sergio Aguero at the Argentine’s unveiling at the club on Monday.
Laporta welcomed the striker to the Camp Nou and went on to explain why the Catalan giants had been so keen to bring Aguero to the club.
“Welcome to FC Barcelona, it is a pride to have you as a Barça player. You have always been a player desired by Barça, for your quality, way of playing. You had that genuine style of playing that fits with our team,” he said.
“The signing of Agüero is because because he is an exceptional player, he plays in a position that is very important in any system and in ours too.
“Obviously we also want Leo Messi stay and he knows that. He is the first of a series of signings you will see in the coming month.”

Aguero’s signing is the start of what could be a busy week for Barcelona. Former defender Eric Garcia is expected at the club on Tuesday as he also moves on a free transfer from Manchester City.
There is also speculation that Barca have paid out the €9 million needed to bring Emerson Royal in from Real Betis on Monday. The Brazilian could also be announced as a Barca player this week.
