Barcelona defender Eric Garcia has been full of praise for Aymeric Laporte but says he hasn’t been chatting to his Spain international team-mate about a move to the Camp Nou.

Laporte is reportedly a target for Barcelona this summer and is said to be considering leaving Manchester City after losing his place in the starting XI.

Garcia has been asked about Laporte and thinks the 27-year-old would be a great addition to the Barcelona squad.

“Laporte is a very good player and also a very good person. He is a player who stands out a lot for his ball output and he is a very aggressive center-back.

“I have not spoken with him about this [moving to Barcelona], we are focused on the Eurocup and then whatever comes ... Obviously he is a great player.”

The latest update on Laporte comes from ESPN who report Barca are keen on the defender but would probably need to offload Samuel Umtiti and Clement Lenglet before going for the center-back.

Garcia also spoke about new Barcelona team-mate Pedri and how impressed he’s been by the 18-year-old midfielder.

“When you watched Barça games, you could see that he is a different player and, indeed, Pedri is a player with spectacular qualities,” he said. “The other day he had a great game and I am very happy for him, because he is also a great person.”

Pedri made history last time out against Sweden, becoming the youngest player ever to feature for Spain at a European Championship. The midfielder was one of Spain’s brightest performers in the game and will be hoping to start again on Saturday against Poland.
