Lionel Messi has agreed to stay at FC Barcelona for two more years before making a move to the United States, according to a new report from Doble Amarilla.
Barcelona’s agreement will span ten years with the Argentine star. The first two years, he will play for Barcelona. The next two, he will play for Inter Miami while simultaneously serving as an “institutional ambassador” for Barcelona. And then, six years not as a player but as an ambassador only.
He will earn 240 million euro in the first four years of the agreement.
Inter Miami, who are owned in part by David Beckham, are in their second season of existence. The report says Sergio Agüero could also join Messi in Miami after his contract with Barcelona expires.
Elsewhere, Fabrizio Romano reports that the deal is not done yet but Barcelona are only finishing up certain details and are confident the agreement will be done.
