Barcelona confirmed on Sunday that defender Jean-Clair Todibo has joined Nice on a permanent transfer following a successful loan spell.
The French side signed Todibo on loan in February after a failed spell at Benfica and have now exercised the purchase option in his contract.
Here is Barcelona’s official statement:
“OGC Nice has reported to FC Barcelona that it shall exercise its right to purchase Jean-Clair Todibo, who has been playing on loan to the French club since the end of the 20/21 season. The operation is valued at 8.5 million euros, plus a further 7 million euros in variables. The Catalan club withholds a percentage on any future sale of the player.
“FC Barcelona wishes to publicly state its gratitude to Jean-Clair Todibo for his commitment and dedication and wishes him all the very best of success in the future.”
Todibo joined Barca from Toulouse in January 2018 and looked a pretty exciting prospect but never really got the chance to impress at the Camp Nou. The defender spent last season on loan at Schalke before heading to Benfica and then Nice in 2020-21.
