Barcelona trio Pedri, Oscar Mingueza, and Eric Garcia jetted off to the Tokyo Olympics with the Spain squad on Tuesday ahead of the start of the tournament.

Garcia and Pedri are back in international action less than a week after Spain’s exit from Euro 2020 after defeat to eventual winners Italy in a penalty shoot-out.

Pedri also heads to the Olympics after being named in UEFA’s team of the tournament.

The squad was actually due to leave on Monday but saw their flight delayed due to mechanical problems.

The Spain Olympic team will warm up for the tournament with a friendly against Japan on July 17. The team’s first group match is due to take place five days later against Egypt.

La Roja will also play Australia (on July 25) and Argentina (on July 28) and if they progress will head into the quarter-finals which are slated for the 31 July. The final will take place on 7 August.
