Barcelona B left-back Alejandro Balde was called into first-team training on Tuesday and will now have the chance to show Ronald Koeman what he can do.
Balde initially joined up with Barcelona B for medical checks ahead of the new campaign but has now moved up to the first team.
It’s a big opportunity for the youngster, particularly with Barcelona no longer expected to bring in a replacement for Junior Firpo.
There have been reports that Barca will instead use Sergino Dest and Balde as back-up to Jordi Alba this season at left-back.
Barcelona B coach Sergio Barjuan admits it’s a big chance for Balde and the other youngsters currently working with Koeman and the first-team regular.
“It’s important for them but they have to that this is a reward and they have to show why they are spending preseason with the first team, and know that their team is Barça B. They have to take advantage of the chance and work hard to keep their place.”
