Adrián Bernabé is expected to return to the Catalan giants and sign for Barcelona B after leaving Premier League champions Manchester City after his contract expired.
The midfielder left the Camp Nou in the summer of 2018 and moved to the Etihad Stadium but has now been released by Pep Guardiola’s side.
Bernabe confirmed his departure on social media on Thursday.
It’s already being reported that Bernabe will now return to Barcelona and link up with new B team coach Sergi Barjuan. Barca B has already signed Espanyol B captain Ferran Jutglà and are expected to welcome Kays Ruiz-Atil back from Paris Saint-Germain too.
It promises to be a new-look Barcelona B next season following the departure of Francisco Javier García Pimienta with president Joan Laporta reportedly keen to shake up La Masia and bring fresh ideas to the team’s academy.
Bernabe will also become the third player to swap Manchester City for Barcelona this summer if he does rejoin the Catalans. Eric Garcia and Sergio Aguero have already signed for Barcelona on free transfers.
