Ilaix Moriba is reportedly willing to spend the season in the stands at Barcelona so that he can leave for free next summer when his contract expires.
The midfielder’s future has been making headlines for several weeks now and an agreement over a new deal has still not been reached.
Moriba has been demoted to train with Barca B while negotiations continue but will not play for the team unless he signs a new deal.
It’s been reported recently that Barca have all but given up on Moriba and expect him to leave if a buyer can be found this summer.
The latest update from Mundo Deportivo goes further and suggests that Moriba is willing to dig his heels in and not play at all in 2021-22 in order to leave as a free agent.
RB Leipzig have been mentioned as a possible destination for Moriba but it’s not clear if the Bundesliga side would be willing to match Barca’s asking price of €15-20m.
