Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has taken a step closer to a first-team comeback after returning to training with the club.

The stopper missed the end of last season, and Euro 2020 with Germany, after undergoing a procedure on a knee injury.

Ter Stegen has not been able to feature in pre-season and is also expected to miss the start of the campaign with Neto expected to start in his place.

However, Ter Stegen may not be too far away from a return after training out on the grass for the first time on Wednesday.

Mundo Deportivo reckon he’s now in the “final stretch” of his recovery and is making “great progress” at the moment.

There’s still no clear date of when Ter Stegen might return but a few whispers that he could come back after the first international break in September.

Barca start off with games against La Real, Athletic, and Getafe before La Liga pauses for the first time. The first game back is away at Sevilla on September 12.
