Heir to the throne: Coutinho offered Messi’s number 10

A surprise move by the Catalans

Barcelona have reportedly offered Philippe Coutinho the famed number 10 kit at the Camp Nou. The number was of course Lionel Messi’s for 13 years at the club before he departed and moved on to Paris Saint-Germain last week.

There have been questions about whether or not the number would be worn by anyone at the club or if it would be retired. If not’s been used yet either in pre-season or in Sunday’s La Liga openere against Real Sociedad.

The thought process behind perhaps offering the number to Coutinho is that since he may end up staying and playing for Barca this year, a nice gesture could go a long way.

Now the problem is that the number itself carries immense weight. A weight so heavy that one could argue Coutinho’s often injured legs couldn't handle it. (too far?)

Either way, this probably wouldn’t be good for the Brazilian. Let’s give him some space to hopefully succeed this year and stay healthy.
