Barcelona hope to announce shortly that Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, and Sergi Roberto have followed Gerard Pique’s lead by agreeing salary reductions and will then turn their attentions to other members of the squad.

Philippe Coutinho and Antoine Griezmann appear to be the next players on the list for contract talks as the duo are among the club’s highest earners, according to Ara.

Both players had been linked with exits this summer, as a way of keeping hold of Lionel Messi, but now the captain has gone it seems both players will stay on at the Camp Nou.

Griezmann’s already been looking to the future after making his 100th appearance for the club in Sunday’s 4-2 La Liga win over Real Sociedad.

“I am proud and happy to have reached this figure,” he said. “I hope I get to play another 100 games and carry on giving everything to make history with this club. I want to keep helping the team both on and off the pitch, in attack and defence, and enjoying being at Barca.”

Meanwhile, Coutinho is expected back in action in the coming weeks after undergoing a second knee operation in April. The Brazilian’s last appearance for Barcelona came back in December in the 1-1 draw with Eibar.
