FC Barcelona have announced further investments into their women’s section following a highly successful, treble-winning season. The two biggest pieces are a natural grass training pitch and residential spaces for women at La Masia.

They will be given the fourth natural grass training pitch at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, when not all female sides are guaranteed their own such training pitch, often having to practice or play on turf (artificial grass).

Barcelona’s famous academy will for the first time grant living space to female players, allowing them to study, train, and grow in the same place.

FC Barcelona Femení were far and away the best women’s team in Europe last season, winning the treble in devastating fashion. In the league, they completed an undefeated season in which their goal difference stood at +80, with only six goals conceded in the entire season. They won every match in the Copa de la Reina, scoring four goals in every game. And they won the UEFA Women’s Champions League Final 4-0 against Chelsea.

Barcelona also for the first time held a female version of the Joan Gamper Trophy, a friendly match that serves as a curtain raiser for the season.
