Oriol Busquets has said an emotional farewell to Barcelona after coming to the end of his contract with the Catalan giants.
The 22-year-old’s deal finished at the end of June and he’s been unable to agree a new contract, according to Diario Sport, which means it’s time for a new challenge.
Here’s what he’s had to say on Instagram stories:
“The time has come to say goodbye to what has been my home for 14 years. I entered the club at the age of 8 and I leave at 22, after much learning, friendships, values and, above all, unforgettable experiences. I feel enormously fortunate having been able to defend these colors during all these seasons, coming to fulfill a dream of any child who begins to kick the ball, which is to play alongside the best
“I would like to thank all the coaches, teammates , physical trainers, physios, doctors, equipment managers and any member of the club with whom I have dealt and who have helped me to be a better player and a better person. Thank you very much for everything, culers!”
There’s no real suggestion yet of where Busquets might be headed. He spent time on loan at FC Twente in 2019-20 before returning to Barca B last season.
