Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman has shared his thoughts on Lionel Messi’s exit from the club and admits he’s still finding it difficult to believe the Argentine will never wear the famous shirt again.

The Catalans confirmed Messi’s departure on Thursday and messages from the players have since flooded social media as the reality that the GOAT is actually leaving finally sinks in.

Koeman has now had his say with a message on Instagram to his captain.

Messi’s departure comes just over a week before Barcelona’s first game of the season against Real Sociedad and means Koeman will have to change his plans for the new campaign.

Barca endured a poor start during Koeman’s first season in charge and a repeat will surely pile huge pressure on the Dutchman once again.

We may get some clues as to how Koeman is thinking of lining his team up without Messi in tomorrow’s Gamper Trophy clash with Juventus.

The Dutchman will also be without some other key players for the start of the season with Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Ansu Fati, and Ousmane Dembele all on the injured list.
