Barcelona president Joan Laporta has offered his reaction to the statement Ronald Koeman made at his pre-match press conference on Wednesday.
The Dutch coach refused to answer questions at the presser and instead read out a statement asking for patience while the team is being rebuilt.
Laporta said he only found out at the last minute what Koeman had planned but insisted he respected his coach’s decision.
“We found out at the last minute that he wanted to do it, the coach has the obligation to go to press conferences and he is free to answer questions or express himself as he sees fit,” he said. “I respect his decision, we have found out minutes before, just like the captains.
“We are in a difficult moment, we have to have a lot of serenity and hope that there will be a good result tomorrow in Cádiz, that is what matters. These situations are overcome with good results, this week we have two very important games, against Cádiz and Levante. We are going to move on, to keep fighting.”
Koeman is due to face the press again after Thursday’s match against Cadiz.
