Lionel Messi is no longer the world’s top paid player, according to Forbes, having taken a paycut to join Paris Saint-Germain over the summer. The world’s best player was also the best paid player for years at FC Barcelona, but things were sure to change. He was ready to accept a much lower offer to remain at the Camp Nou, although he ultimately did not due to salary cap issues.

Cristiano Ronaldo is now the top earner, having joined Manchester United in the summer.

Another former Barcelona and current PSG player is in #3 - Neymar. And the fourth spot is taken by yet another PSG forward - Kylian Mbappé.

Mohamed Salah (Liverpool). Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich), are in fifth and sixth respectively.

Another former Barcelona player, Andrés Iniesta is in seventh, after leaving Catalonia to play in Japan with Vissel Kobe.

Paul Pogba (Manchester United) is eighth, while two Real Madrid players round up the top ten: Gareth Bale and Eden Hazard.

Barcelona do not have any players in the top 10 rich list anymore. Three former players appear on the list.
