Ansu Fati was handed the famous Barcelona No. 10 shirt this week and may not have to wait too much longer to try it out in first-team action.
The youngster has been back in training for a couple of weeks now and could make his first appearance since November 2020 later this month.
According to Diario Sport, Barca’s medical team are “expecting” Fati to be ready to return against Granada at the Camp Nou on September 20.
The report reckons Fati is “having his own pre-season effectively at the moment” as he’s working with a physio as well as taking part in first-team training.
Fati’s not expected to feature against Sevilla or Bayern Munich but could be thrust into action after those two key games for Barcelona.
Ronald Koeman spoke about the forward recently and played down reports Fati could feature at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium and also made it clear the Catalans aren’t willing to take any risks with the 18-year-old.
Yet fans will be excited to see Fati back in action after almost a year spent on the sidelines due to knee trouble. His return could also come at a good time with Barca set for a hectic week after the Bayern game.
Barca play Granada, Levante and Cadiz in La Liga in the space of seven games and then head to Benfica in the Champions League on September 29.
