One of the more low-key yet interesting pieces of Barcelona’s short-term future is Sergi Roberto. The Spaniard’s contract expires within the year and he has yet to narrow down his future at the club.

Barcelona reportedly offered Roberto a two-year contract extension. An extension that obviously reduces his salary. The main holdup for Roberto is that he’s uncertain of the intentions of the offer. Is this purely to keep him from leaving on a free? Or is he actually a part of Barca’s future plans?

Those are the questions Roberto has been seeking to get answered. He will have a meeting with president Juan Laporta to try and help answer these questions. Roberto clearly wants to be at Barca, it just remains to be seen if he’s a part of their plans on the pitch or not.

Interestingly, the report adds that Roberto already has offers for next summer from other clubs and that a Barcelona exit is certainly a possibility.
