Franck Kessie will be the difference maker for Barcelona

Franck Kessie's signing for Barcelona was a wise financial decision that went according to plan.

The Catalans instantly identified him as a valuable free agent target, and they moved rapidly to court him and persuaded the Ivorian to support Xavi's agenda.

It seems like the ideal fit. Kessie has a soft spot for the team and is driven to emulate fellow countrymanYaya Toure, who rose through the ranks under Pep Guardiola before departing and becoming a Manchester City icon.

Kessie is an influential midfielder, much like Yaya. He is nonetheless quick on the ball and has the potential to improve with a coach like Xavi, who has what it takes to shape him into a Barcelona playmaker.

He will reportedly get 6 million euros yearly, roughly one-fourth of Frenkie de Jong's pay. The Dutchman's future is still in doubt, and if he rejects the proposed 40 percent wage cut, he could be tempted to offer his services elsewhere.

All this appears to be a part of Joan Laporta's larger plan to create a new salary structure to maintain the club's financial stability within the parameters of financial fair play.

When you add Kessie to Pablo Torre's acquisition and disregard the prospect of bringing in Bernardo Silva, it becomes clear that Barcelona has discovered a cost-effective option that will enable them to let go of maybe their most talented player.

Keep an eye on Kessie when preseason games begin in earnest this week. It appears that Xavi will approach these matches strategically, particularly in the midfield. There will be a lot of pre-season matches to watch and bet on, but besides football, cricket fans can obtain to bet on upcoming cricket matches.

Deploying Kessie as a holding midfielder

Highly doubtful, especially if de Jong departs. Kessie and the Dutchman were seen as a potential twin pivot option to Sergio Busquets. Instead, Xavi has stated that he wants to try out Nico in the holding role.

That means that Kessie and Gavi will face off for a starting berth next to Pedri.

However, competition is a good thing. Gavi will be compelled to maintain consistency and develop a positional identity that supports Pedri. The few times the two of them did play together, Gavi appeared to vanish into Pedri's shadow. They need time to get to know one another.

Due to his experience and versatility in applying various formations and tactics, Kessie may have an advantage over Gavi. Kessie will fill in the holes as Frenkie de Jong does. He is a real box-to-box player who feels at ease carrying out various tasks.

High up the field

Kessie is not the kind of player who demands to be the center of attention. To make time and space for his teammates, he will perform the unappreciated labor that must be done in the background. Although Pedri is a tireless worker and will assist in defense when necessary, he excels as an attacking midfielder.

It's also important to remember that Kessie, who AC Milan acquired from Atalanta for 32 million euros in 2017, was crucial to the club's turnaround. The Rossoneri experienced financial difficulties, much like Barcelona, and it took them more than ten years to regain their lost glory. Kessie was present throughout, contributing to the making of history.
