Barcelona are reportedly already looking at potential replacements for Gavi and could dip into the January transfer window to sign a new midfielder on loan.
Gavi has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering an ACL tear on international duty and will not return until next summer.
Sport and Mundo Deportivo are both reporting that plans are already being made to potentially sign a new midfielder.
The first name to have cropped up is Giovani Lo Celso. The Argentine was linked with a move to Barca last summer and those links have been quick to reappear.
Barcelona would try to bring in the Argentine on a six-month loan, and he could well be tempted seeing as he’s yet to start in the Premier League this season for Spurs.
Finances will remain an issue in the January transfer window, although new rules mean Barca can use 80% of Gavi’s salary in the transfer market as he’s out for the long term.
There are also a host of youngsters that could also get the nod. Marc Casado, Aleix Garrido, Unai Hernandez and Marc Bernal are all options in case Barca don’t go to market this winter.
