Barcelona coach Xavi is reportedly pushing for a new midfielder in the January window after losing Gavi to a serious knee injury.
Diario Sport reckon that Xavi has let Deco know he wants a new addition to cover for the injured teenager.
Giovani Lo Celso’s name has already been mentioned as a possible loan target, while Barca are also also thought to be fans of Real Betis midfielder Guido Rodriguez.
The report reckons the club will now starting looking in earnest for a replacement, even though there’s no guarantee there’s room financially.
Barca’s priority this winter had been to bring a move forward for Brazilian starlet Vitor Roque, and there’s unlikely to be space for two players to come in.
Meanwhile, the rumor mill has been busy throwing up potential options to replace Gavi with all sorts of names emerging already.
Everton duo Idrissa Gana Gueye and Abdoulaye Doucouré, Pablo Fornals and former Barca midfielder Thiago have already been mentioned. And it’s only Tuesday.
