Joao Felix has been told he would be warmly welcomed back at Atletico Madrid if he does not stay at Barcelona permanently.

The Portugal international is on a season-long loan with the Rojiblancos, with the Catalans thought to be keen to keep hold of him.

Yet finances may prevent Barca signing him permanently, making an Atleti return very possible, and Saul Niguez says he’d be happy to see Felix back in Madrid.

“If next year for any reason he has to return, he will be well received here,” he told Mundo Deportivo.

“We players know that when he has put on the shirt he has always tried to do his best. Sometimes it has been possible and other times it has not.”

It’s not clear if the fans would feel the same way. Felix angered supporters in the summer but issuing a come and get me plea to Barca, and Diego Simeone has already admitted some at the club simply don’t like the forward.
