Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen admits he’s been saddened to see Gavi ruled out for the season with an ACL tear.

Gavi was back at the club this week to see his team-mates, with Barca releasing footage showing Ter Stegen consoling and hugging the midfielder.

Barcelona’s stopper has now spoken about Gavi’s injury and told the teenager he can expect plenty of support from his club.

“I’m sad for him. He’s a beautiful person, who gives everything on the pitch,” he said.

“We have to fight for him. We are a family, in good times and bad. He has all our affection during this ordeal.”

Barcelona will pick up their season again on Saturday, with Ter Stegen potentially set to join Gavi on the sidelines against Rayo.

The goalkeeper has a back injury and it’s thought he may not be fit to take his usual spot between the sticks at Vallecas.
