Barcelona manager Xavi has made some last-minute changes to his squad for Wednesday’s Champions League tie with Antwerp.
The boss had left Ronald Araujo, Robert Lewandowsk, Ilkay Gundogan and Frenkie de Jong out of his travelling party but has now done a bit of a U-turn.
Lewandowski, Araujo and Gundogan will now all make the trip, but De Jong will stay home and get some rest.
Barcelona have offered some sort of explanation for the late changes. A statement says there’s been a “change to the itinerary” which means the team will stay overnight in Belgium and not return to Barca until Thursday.
For that reason “it has been decided to included all the available first team players” for the final Champions League group games. De Jong has not been included because he’s suffering from a fever.
It remains to be seen if the trio will feature against Antwerp or whether Xavi will opt to rotate his squad ahead of a La Liga clash with Valencia at the weekend.
