Poor European results

Barcelona coach Xavi picked up an unwanted record on Wednesday after seeing his team beaten 3-2 by Antwerp in the Champions League.

The Catalans had already qualified for the last 16, and still go through as group winners, but it’s still an embarrassing defeat for Xavi and his men.

The result also means that Xavi has hit the most Champions League defeats for Barcelona in the quickest time.

He now has six defeats in 14 games, at a worse rate that Luis Enrique (6 in 33) and Pep Guardiola (6 in 52 games).

Barcelona go through to the last 16 but there will be concerns over just how far they can go after another disappointing result and performance.

Antwerp had not managed a single point in the group ahead of the game but scored three times to see off Barcelona.

The result follows on from the weekend’s defeat to Girona and means the pressure is starting to mount on Xavi now.
