Getafe president Angel Torres has hinted that his club could make a surprise move for Oriol Romeu in the January window.
Romeu has been linked with a move away from Barcelona already, possibly to former club Girona, after falling out of favor with Xavi’s side.
Getafe want a new midfielder after losing Mauro Arambarri to injury and Torres offered up the following response when asked about possible interest in Romeu.
“Nothing is impossible in football. I have told many times about Messi. I was able to bring him in when I was 16. In football, there are difficult things but not impossible. We are working on four or five very advanced things,
“We are waiting for the coach to come tomorrow or the day after tomorrow and give his agreement. One or two reinforcements will come as long as the coach agrees.”
Getafe have also been linked with former Barca midfielder Ilaix Moriba. The 20-year-old was once one of the club’s brightest young stars but has struggled since leaving Catalunya and may be on the move yet again.
