Barcelona midfielder Oriol Romeu has reportedly attracted interest from Serie A side Roma.

La Repubblica reports that Jose Mourinho’s men could look to sign a midfielder if Renato Sanches departs this winter.

Sanches has been linked with clubs in Greece and Turkey after struggling for game time this season after joining on loan from Paris Saint-Germain.

Romeu’s name has therefore cropped up as a possible option, although it’s difficult to see him leaving Barca midway through the season.

Romeu has dropped down the pecking order since returning in the summer, but Xavi seems unlikely to sanction a sale after losing Gavi to a season-ending injury.

Barca are keen to add a midfielder to the squad but face a real battle completing any signings due to their financial constraints.

Romeu has been linked with a move back to Girona, but it seems any transfer is move likely to take place in the summer rather than right now.
