Very harsh

Barcelona loanee Julian Araujo has been hit with a four-match ban and a fine after clashing with an opponent while playing for Las Palmas against Tenerife in the Copa del Rey.

Las Palmas lost the match 2-0, with Araujo handed his marching orders in the second half after picking up a second booking.

Araujo’s red came after he’d gone to ground in the penalty area. The defender then jumped up and confronted an opponent, leading with his forehead.

There wasn’t much in it at all but the Tenerife player needed absolutely no invitation whatsoever to go to ground which saw Araujo handed his marching orders.

Araujo has now been banned for four games and will serve the suspension in La Liga, meaning he’ll miss matches against Villarreal, Rayo Vallecano, Real Madrid and Granada.

Las Palmas are reportedly planning to appeal the decision but it remains to be seen if the ban will be overturned.
