Barcelona are expecting Joao Cancelo to miss Sunday’s clash with Real Madrid in the final of the Spanish Super Cup due to injury.
Cancelo has been out since suffering a knee ligament injury against Las Palmas. He was included in the Super Cup squad but hasn’t been given the green light to return yet.
Diario Sport reckon that Cancelo will miss out again on Sunday. The defender is keen to return but Barca don’t expect him to be quite ready to play in the crunch game.
Cancelo will try to do all he can to be available in time, with a decision to be made at the last minute, but it seems for now that he will not be part of Xavi’s side.
The Barcelona boss is therefore likely to stick with the same backline he used against Osasuna, particularly as Inigo Martinez and Marcos Alonso are also sidelined.
Xavi lined up with Jules Kounde and Alejandro Balde as his two full-backs, while Ronald Araujo and Andreas Christensen played in the heart of the defense.
