Barcelona B handed 16-year-old Ilias Akhomach his debut on Saturday in a friendly against Cornella at the Estadi Johan Cruyff.
Francisco Javier García Pimienta’s side went down 1-0 in their final pre-season friendly in a game that saw Akhomach feature in the second half.

New signing Joaquín Zeballos, who only arrived from Girona on Friday, also made his first appearance and was a little unlucky not to score a debut goal.
Yet it was the appearance of Ilias that has excited most. The teenager is regarded as the latest gem to emerge from La Masia and there’s plenty of optimism about his future.
Ilias tends to play on the right wing but can also play on the opposite flank or through the middle. Patrick Kluivert has already dubbed him ‘the new Messi’ which might not be helpful.
In any case he certainly seems to have impressed García Pimienta already. Ilias has only just started training with Barca B but has already been trusted in a match.

The defeat is Barca’s first of pre-season and follows wins over Escala, Peralada, and Tona and a draw with Badalona. The team kick off their league season on Sunday against Nàstic Tarragona.
