Ronald Araujo has stressed the importance of Barcelona B’s promotion playoff against Badajoz on Thursday.

The centre-back has joined up with García Pimienta’s side for Thursday’s crucial game after playing for the first-team on Sunday at Alaves.

Araujo admits it’s a vital game for Barca B and spoke about the potential consequences of the team missing out on promotion.

“It’s a vital match. We have to win it to play again on Sunday. We have to be really motivated, focused as they are games that are often decided by the smallest of margins and we have to be switched on for 90 minutes to be able to win,” he said.

“It’s a game that if you lose, you are out of it. It’s important because if we don’t win and get promoted then it could mean the group of players who have been together for a long time breaking up. There is a lot at stake on a personal level, for the team and for the club so it’s game that brings a lot of responsibility.”

Barca B head into the match off a dramatic 3-2 win over Valladolid Promesas. Two goals from Konrad de la Fuente and a Monchu strike gave the team victory in the first round of the playoffs.
