Ernesto Valverde has faced the press ahead of Wednesday’s Copa del Rey clash with Murcia and said he will be using some Barcelona B players in the game.

He also gave an update on Ousmane Dembele as well as Sergi Roberto and Andre Gomes and was also asked about VAR again, after Saturday’s clash with Valencia.

Here are the best bits...

Valverde on Murcia in the Copa del Rey

The team are in good shape physically and the idea to give some of the B team players who featured in Murcia a chance and those who have featured less

Valverde on if Ousmane Dembele will return for El Clasico

Saying the word impossible is tough to do. But I think it will be tough. I think it's tough because it was a big injury and we have to wait a bit more time to see how he's doing.

Before Christmas? I don't know. We won't risk him, we've been without him for a while. I'm excited that he really wants to get back with the team and is pushing hard.

When players do that and want to speed things up maybe it's better to slow them down. I think it’s good but we have to be cautious, just in case.

Valverde on Andre Gomes & Sergi Roberto

We'll see what today's training session looks like for them. They'll be back at some point. Tomorrow? I don't know. We are optimistic for Saturday.

Valverde on VAR

Hawkeye - we have this technology available in other sports and in other leagues I don't understand why it's not here.

Valverde on Messi’s goal against Valencia

What is absurd is that someone in the last row of the stadium sees the ball go in, and someone on the pitch doesn’t. I don't know if the linesman could see it. At the moment they scored, everybody saw it was a goal, the keeper had his head down. Leo was running to celebrate. Everybody knew it was a goal.

In European games they have a ref behind the goal, we don't have that.

So we look to try and improve this every year. These things can be decisive. Last year it happened to Barca at Betis. I think maybe one day we'll have the VAR.
