Jeison Murillo will miss the first leg of Barcelona’s Copa del Rey quarter-final against Sevilla due to suspension.

The RFEF confirmed on Friday that the centre-back would miss out due to an accumulation of yellow cards.

Murillo was booked in both legs of Barca’s last 16 tie against Levante, he also picked up a yellow for Valencia in their 2-1 win over Ebro in October.

The news is a bit of a blow to Ernesto Valverde with Samuel Umtiti still out injured, although Thomas Vermaelen has returned to training.

He could turn to youth for the game, but given the first leg is at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán, it’s likely Gerard Pique and Clement Lenglet will be the centre-back pairing.
