Gerard Pique makes a great point about Real Madrid’s Copa Clasico complaints

The defender says an extra day’s rest may not help

Gerard Pique has hit back at complaints from Real Madrid ahead of their two sides’ Copa del Rey clash on Wednesday.

Manager Santiago Solari has complained Barcelona will have had more rest for the match as they played Sevilla on Saturday afternoon, while Los Blancos don’t play until Sunday night.

Pique has, of course, offered his view on the scheduling and pointed out that extra rest does not always help.

“The last time they had one day more rest than us we won 5-1,” he said.

”I know they’re looking forward to facing us. They will be really up for it, but we will do everything possible to reach the cup final.

”Then winning the league game wouldn’t decide the title -- but it would make a huge statement if we won.”

The semi-final is currently delicately poised at 1-1 after the first leg at the Camp Nou.
