Gerard Pique says Barcelona still want manager Ernesto Valverde to continue after their 2-1 defeat to Valencia in Saturday’s Copa del Rey final.

Valverde has come under pressure after the club’s Champions League defeat to Liverpool, and Saturday’s loss will increase scrutiny on his position at the club.

Pique spoke about the manager after the defeat and seemed to back him again.

“We don’t worry about the coach’s future. We have to analyse on an individual level after each game and see what we can improve.

”The decisions aren’t in our hands but we’ve said more than once that we’d like him to continue.”

Saturday’s defeat ends Barcelona’s hopes of doing a domestic double, and the club’s disappointments in the Copa del Rey and the Champions League could make for a summer shake-up at the Camp Nou.
