Barcelona continued their unbeaten start to the season with a 3-0 win at Leganes thanks to a goal in each half from Luis Suarez and a late third from Paulinho.
It wasn’t all good news for Barca, however, Gerard Pique picking up his fifth yellow card of the season in the first half, which rules him out of next weekend’s trip to Valencia.
Barcelona started off pretty well but Leganes came back into it as the game settled down and arguably had the better of the few chances that were created.
However, it was Luis Suarez who broke the deadlock on 28 minutes. Goalkeeper Iván Cuélla made a mess of Paco Alcacer’s cross and Suarez smashed home from close range.
A minute later and things took a turn for the worse, Pique picking up a booking that rules him out of next weekend’s trip to Valencia.
Marc-Andre ter Stegen was then called into action, making a brilliant save from Alexander Szymanowski, diving low to parry the ball and deny Leganes an equaliser.
Leganes finished the half the stronger side, but Barca went in at the break ahead after Suarez’s first goal for over a month.
The second half was pretty similar with Nordin Amrabat causing Barca problems and Ter Stegen making some decent saves.
However, Suarez then grabbed his second of the match on the hour mark.
Again Alcacer was involved, his shot only parried by Cuellar and Suarez latching onto the rebound, with his shot going in with the help of a deflection.
The goal put Barca in command and Paulinho added further gloss to the scoreline late on after poking home following good work from Messi.
Three goals and another three points for Barcelona.
